Granted, I watched and commentated on most balls of the 2009 Ashes, but the real treat, alas, I was to miss. Holiday forced me away from the internet, from the 21st century’s umbilical chord of insanity, as it did from the TV. So I was distraught to hear England have lost the one-day series, but am rendered frankly speechless that they stumbled haplessly upon one victory
