THE WEST Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Executive will hold a teleconference on Saturday in an attempt to find a much-needed resolution to the controversy which continues to affect cricket in Guyana. The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) has been locked out of their premises since earlier this month with the government of Guyana appointing an Interim Management Committee (IMC) to manage the affairs of the sport in that country. The decision has not gone down well with the GCB or WICB who have both expressed their dissatisfaction with the usurping of the GCB’s authority and have rejected all decisions made by the IMC

ST JOHN’S, Antigua – West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has announced that some of the Regional Four Day Cricket Tournament matches will be played under lights and that pink balls will be used in these matches. The pink balls were introduced in 2010 in the first four-day match under lights between Trinidad & Tobago and Guyana here at Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Grounds (SVRCG).

Cricket in Guyana, beleaguered as it already is, is almost certain to face its darkest hour in the next few weeks as the off field crisis continues to intensify. Today the Guyana Cricket Board announced a 31 member provisional squad for the WICB Regional 4 Day Tournament while the Government of Guyana’s Interim Management Committee headed by former West Indies captain Clive Lloyd announced a 30 member squad of its own.
